Pros and Cons of WP7 For Nokia

This article will Look into the pros and cons Of using the windows Phone 7 As their primary smartphone OS will mean for the casual audience, i will just look the software of WP7 and Symbian and tell you Pros and Cons of using WP7 as their primary operating system

Advantages :-

    1. Text Input :- This is one of the improvements that will drastically Improve the text Input on the Nokia smartphones as In my opinion Symbian Offers the worst text input experience Any OS has to offer and WP7 has Arguably The best Text Input Any OS has to offer.Symbian Lacks an Portrait Qwerty and It doesn't even support an Multi-touch keyboard as of now, so for now Symbian Keyboard's pretty much suck!
.

  • Web Browsers : This is Not Anything new and everything Knows about this that The Symbian has A very very Unimpressive Browser, That is not decent to use from any Point, it has A very Bad JavaScript Engine, and basically just made for mobile sites, not the desktop one's  it can't even Load Engadget Without hanging up,the Internet Explorer browser in Windows Phone 7 is good -- on par with the browser on Android 2.x, if not the Safari browser in iOS. So, finally you can use the built-in browser to surf full-fledged websites without having to rely on a third party app maker. And The IE9 for windows phone is as promising as it comes! And what we saw in the leaked Photos and Video of New Browser for Symbian its not At all promising.

  • Online Digital Media :- Nokia's online music store Ovi Music hasn't received that big a response. In fact,Nokia just closed their Unlimited Music Service, Ovi Music Unlimited, which really shows what is Symbian Doing in the digital Media field. While Microsoft has their Zune service that lets you purchase music, TV shows, movies and music videos. Thus, buyers of Nokia Windows Phones will have a better choice while buying media. Actually, Ovi Music and Zune aren't too different in function -- both have options of unlimited access to their song libraries, and both sell DRM-protected music. Here's food for thought -- wouldn't it be nice if Ovi Music and Zune were to share their media library?

  • App Store :- Its Nokia's Very Own Ovi store and Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, Whereas Ovi store has 30000 Applications In the Store and Microsoft Has about 10000 Applications to offer, But still i would pick Up Marketplace Any day, Because The ovi store only has the Number advantages, most of the applications Ovi store has to offer are Junk Like Bookmarks for popular websites and Etc, Nokia doesn't have Many Big developers and games to offer, Ovi store doesn't even have An Decent free Twitter or Facebook application and Gravity costs about  10 Pounds which is really to much for an Twitter Application. In 3-4 Months of time WP7 has been here Now it has About 10000 applications which is really great for this much time, and in future, like 4-5 months i think WP7 will have more then 30-40000 Applications.  Plus for people interested in playing games on their phone, there's XBOX Live for online multi-player gaming.

  • User Interface :- WP7 Has been Most praised for its New,Unique and very very stable and fast User Interface which i am really a fan of, and which is miles better then what Symbian has to offer in its UI.
  • Social Integration  :-  Another aspect of Windows Phone 7 is how well it integrates with elements of social networking onto the OS. It supports only Facebook right now, but again Facebook and Social Networking are two words that are almost synonymous these days, yes? What is this integration we talk about -- mainly we are speaking of your contacts being integrated with contact details of your friends on Facebook, and you can simply tap on it to call, text or e-mail that person. Symbian^3 on the other hand just had Facebook as a third party app.

Disadvantages :-

  • Multitasking :  Now what we are talking About is something Nokia excels In Multi-tasking on Nokia is the Most stable available On any Smartphone Os, as its less power hungry, and very very stable. But when it comes to Microsoft it is not present yet, But Microsoft promised that they will Add it in an update coming later this Year. But right now it is not available.
  • USB on-The-Go : Nokia's New devices Boasted Pretty much about their USB on-the-go, but Since Windows Phone 7 does not have a file manager, I think  that Nokia will have to drop this feature off the brag-list for its Windows Phone, but Lets see till the First Nokia's WP7 device Arrives.
  • Video-Calling : Windows Phone 7 does not support video-calling. Many Symbian devices have sported front-facing video-call cameras till date. Now that people have become interested in making video calls again, it'll be a bummer to see a Nokia phone without this feature.
  • Video format support : Symbian^3 phones played back popular formats like DivX, XviD; even 720p MKV files managed to play in our testing. Windows Phone 7 will take you back to the ancient method of having to transcode those files into a format the OS supports before transferring them. Thus gone is the instant plug-and-play type support that was well appreciated, at least by me :(

But as we all know there Very much time left till The first Windows Phone 7 device, many updates Will come, Lets just hope for The best!
