how much developer are interested in platforms?

recent study conducted on 2760 developers show the results given above in the picture, nothing in the survey found out something interesting or surprising except few people complaining about wp7 having less interest in the minds of develops, but what my point on the situation is that wp7 is still relatively new Ecosystem, and its growing at rapid speed faster then what Android or IOS was on its initial stages and the recent nokia deal will be also very much beneficial for  wp7 after nokia releases its first windows powered smartphone, which according to Stephen elop is going to be an 2011 Q4 even, and around time mango will also be released so it means all good for microsoft during that time.

student project use smartphone camera to cure malaria

This year’s Imagine Cup 2011, a student contest sponsored by Microsoft, asked student entrants to "imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems."
Few problems come tougher than Malaria, which kills 1 million children a year, mostly in developing countries with little infrastructure and few resources.
Tristan Gibeau and Wilson To ‘s LifeLens app hopes to help reduce this number by speeding diagnosis of the disease by reducing the need for an expensive and often unavailable laboratory to spot the parasite in blood.
"It's going to make a difference in trying to contain the outbreak of malaria," said Gibeau, the project's software designer. "In the big picture, it'll hopefully help in the fight against most diseases out there and make everybody's life a little easier."
Gibeau said the software application, which runs on a Windows Phone 7 handset with a special lens attached to the phone camera, can take a picture of a blood sample, process the data to detect malaria parasites, quantify how much malaria is in the sample and point the parasites out to the phone user. "It actually draws a red box around the clusters of malaria, and it actually notifies you how many it found," Gibeau said.
Gibeau is planning to expand the technology to allow the diagnosis of sickle cell disease and other diseases, and the student also hopes to eventually make a living out of developing the concept further.
“From different conversations we've had with investors, we feel that this definitely is a money-maker," he said.

Opera Mini Bags 100 Million Users

The world's most prolific mobile browser Opera Mini has found home in 100 million mobile devices according to Opera's statistics recorded in March. The number of monthly Opera Mini users, a browser available for 3,000 devices,  across the globe has grown by 11 million since February 2011 and doubled from the 50 million mark celebrated in February 2010. That's a lot of numbers, which pale in comparison to the two billion daily pageviews claimed by Opera

Opera had made a similar 100 million announcement two months ago, but that was for a combination of Opera Mini and Mobile numbers, but this landmark was achieved by Opera Mini on its own accord. "Sweeeet!" said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software at the achievement.
